Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities:
  • Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to areas of production. Collaborate with Design Engineering and implement design for manufacturing changes.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews.
  • Determine root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g., design of experiment (DOE), SPC, root cause analysis, A3)
  • Develop creative, low cost mistake proofing solutions for process failure modes.
  • Identification, implementation and documentation of productivity improvements and cost savings ideas.
  • Develop tooling and fixtures for new products and processes and work with tooling suppliers as required.
  • Evaluate capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. Design and prepare concept drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment. Manage overall implementations of capital equipment projects.
  • Create and update manufacturing work instructions and manufacturing control documentation.
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate with Business Unit Teams to modernize and automate existing equipment

Authority:
  • MRB review and 1st article approval authority. 
  • Signature authority for Engineering Change Orders (ECO)

General Requirements: 
  • Spanish speaking a plus but not required.
  • Experience in creating / updating routers in ERP systems.  
  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of tooling, sheet metal manufacture, fastener and hardware application is required.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal skills.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and other automation related equipment.
  • Experience or familiarity with (PLC, Sensors, Motors, Actuators, Camera and Vision Systems, Pneumatic and Hydraulic components).
  • Experience troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic and automated controls.
  • General Machine Shop knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Excellent ability to collaborate and work with diverse groups within the plant.

Knowledgebase and Experience:
  • Must have 3 years minimum experience in manufacturing.
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Quality or Business.
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and specs.
  • Experienced with applying quality tools and techniques (SPC, Control Plans, FMEA, PPAP, Sampling plans and corrective actions).
  • Use of PC, windows OS, Microsoft Office products required.
  • Ability to Model and Create drawings in Solidworks.
