Estimator/Technical Support Representative for Aquaduct Fabrication

    • The skill set for this role would be a range of $26.00 per hour to $30.00 per hour, with $26 representing someone with 1 year of experience for ALL of the required qualifications, and $30 representing someone with 5 years of experience for ALL the qualifications.  If there is a deviation from the qualifications, obviously the numbers would be less.

 

SUMMARY: Provide technical support all metal products, estimates for all custom Aquaduct jobs, files for the turret to cut parts, and files for the pressbrake and or roller to form parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Offer technical support to production from start to finish on all custom work
  • Review construction documents and understands scope of work to bid.
  • Ensure the design of product is feasible with the equipment on hand using Trutops or similar program.  If it is not feasible with current equipment, what would be the additional cost or equipment and/or tooling
  • Obtain pricing for materials needed outside the stock materials
  • Obtain bids for subcontracted work for custom jobs
  • Create a quotation for all Aquaduct metal work and fiberglass catch basins
  • Review quotes from Aquaduct on channels and standard frame modifications and inform supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions
  • Review quotes from Quartz on channels and standard frame modifications and inform supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions
  • Determine if further modifications are needed based on customer specifications; collaborate with Sales & Production team to seek best solutions for customers.
  • Use SolidWorks and JetCam to create, modify, and edit submittal drawings package and shop drawings for production/fabrication.
  • Provide technical assistance on each project regarding parts, modifications, and other related technical info prior to quotation. 
  • Support manufacturing process by monitoring compliance of quality and specification.
  • Performs field failure analysis and solution evaluation for production product issues.
  • Build quotes utilizing an estimator
  • Enter orders utilizing Syspro and confirm those orders
  • Communicate effectively with others, attend regular meetings fiberglass/metal shop departments and interact globally
  • Provide customer service via phone and email.

 

Education and/or Experience:
  • Certificate or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or strong knowledge of engineering principles.
  • 2 to 5 years of recent work experience in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in metal fabrication & cost estimating; knowledge of JetCam or similar material management software.

 

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to write technical correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, area, circumference, and volume.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of basic drafting room practices.
  • Able to read engineering / architectural drawings.
  • Outside of box thinker, creative in engineering and steel modification; strong problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products.
  • Metal Fabrication to including forming, cutting, and welding

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Will have contact with product; must be able to lift a minimum of 75lbs, and a maximum of 100lbs on an occasional basis.
